Portfolio Review Requirements:
SUBMISSION OF A HIGH QUALITY PORTFOLIO OR ORIGINAL WORK:
The portfolio is perhaps the single most important part of an applicants audition. The collection of art work could be actual work, slides, CD, DVD, or a combination. It should consist of 10-20 pieces of work which best represents the applicant’s creative spirit, sense of design and technical skill. The work included should exhibit a range of media usage with examples demonstrating drawing from observation.
At the time of your portfolio review, you will need to provide the visual arts department with one of the following or a combination of two of the options listed:
Option 1: A slide portfolio consisting of 10-20 slides that are inserted in a plastic sheet with no more than two views of one work.
Option 2: A CD or DVD consisting of 10-20 pieces with no more than two views of one work.
Option 3: 8.5"x11" color outputs consisting of 10-20 pieces [one per page] with no more than two views of one work.
Portfolio interviews are required of candidates residing in South Florida. Candidates who apply from outside South Florida have the option of submitting their portfolio by mail without an interview. Include a stamped, self addressed envelope for the return of portfolio items. Portfolios must be postmarked by no later than the last advertised portfolio date in the Spring 2011.
SUBMISSION OF A SKETCHBOOK;
Although the sketchbook is not required, it is highly desirable. In many cases the sketchbook provides the review committee with valuable insights into the applicant’s personal experiences and ability to explore and investigate ideas. The contents of the sketchbook should be a visual record executed in varied media, with concepts expressed through quick gesture sketches as well as more developed ideas.
Application including transcripts and recommendations must be completed one week prior to your portfolio review. Mail all application items to:
