Maggy Cuesta was born in Cuba, and grew up in Texas. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Graphic Design. After graduation Maggy moved to Houston, Texas where she worked as a graphic designer. In 1985, she received her Masters Degree in Graphic Design from California Institute of the Arts. After receiving her degree Ms Cuesta moved to Miami where she worked for local design firms before establishing a partnership in The Image Designers Group. She worked both professionally and as an Associate Professor Senior at New World School of the Arts until 2005 when she was named Dean of Visual Arts for New World School of the Arts. Ms Cuesta has served on the board and as President of the American Institute of Graphic Arts [AIGA]-Miami Chapter and in 2004, she was given the AIGA Fellows Award. Ms. Cuesta has been very involved in the AIGA both locally and nationally on collaborative exhibitions such as ¡propaganda! Cuban Political and Film Posters, Power of Typography, and Sharing Dreams of Peace with the AIGA Cross Cultural Committee. Her work has been published in Communication Arts, Print, Print Casebooks, AIGA, Graphis and Hot Graphics USA.

High School Faculty
Jim Hunter

Jim Hunter was born in Virginia, and after living in Pennsylvania and New York, where he worked as a teacher, professional artist, and jeweler, relocated to Miami in 1976.
Mr. Hunter achieved national recognition in 1995 as winner of the American Artist Magazine, Art Masters Awards as Artist Teacher of the Year 1995. The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts presented Mr. Hunter with the 2001 Coca-Cola Distinguished Teacher in the Arts Award, and award given to one teacher in the United States voted by award winning students influence in their life. Mr. Hunter has been recognized many times by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (17), Pratt Institute (6), National Scholastic Art Awards (24), the Miami-Dade County Public School Board (2), the College Board (2) and ACE / FAAE Florida First Lady’s Arts Recognition Scholarship Program (6) for dedication and commitment to student achievement in the visual arts. In 1987, Rhode Island School of Design selected him as one of the top art educators in the United States. Mr. Hunter was honored by the faculty of NWSA as Teacher of the Year 2006.

Thomas Wyroba

Thomas Wyroba was born in Buffalo, and earned his BFA in Ceramics from Ohio State University.  He then continued his education in the arts earning the first MFA in Conceptual/Performance Art also from Ohio State.  For the past 18 years, he has taught painting and drawing in both the high school and the college level at the acclaimed New Worlds School of the Arts. Mr. Wyroba has been recognized as the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts as the national teacher of the year, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards distinguished teacher for three consecutive years and has been honored as the distinguished teacher for the Presidential Scholar Award five times during his career at Advanced Placement Studio courses.
 
Michael Loveland

Michael Loveland a native of Miami and alumni from the NWSA High School Program,  received his BFA degree from The Maryland Institute Collage of Art in Baltimore, graduating cum laude. Loveland then moved to New York to further his passions in sculpture and interior design, where for eight years he worked on many large projects with international clients such as Estée Lauder/Mac Makeup and nightclub décor for Jet Corp.  Loveland is currently based in Miami and is focusing on his own artwork.  He has been showing consistently at such venues as Denise Bibro fine arts New York City; Art Fairs such as SCOPE Basel, Switzerland; ArteFiera, Bologna, Italy; CIRCA, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Art Chicago and the Miami Art Museum where his work is part of the permanent collection.
Susan Banks

Susan Banks is a native of South Florida and has been working in Ceramics for over 25 years. Her sculpture has been exhibited nationally and she is the recipient of two Florida State Artist Fellowships. Her work is included in many private and Museum collections. She completed her MFA in Ceramics from the University of Miami and her BFA from Florida International University. Included in Professor Banks’ professional development are many years of extensive training with nationally recognized teachers throughout the country. Professor Banks’ other achievements include several site specific collaborative environmental Art projects in the Miami area such as Brittle Star Park, Downtown Miami, Windscape, Noguchi Park /Bayfront Park and Sculpture in the Landscape, University of Miami. Other site specific work includes a ceramic tile mural for Ruth K. Broad Elementary School “Growing with Technology and the American Cancer Society “Michael Garden” both as successful donor walls. Professor Banks’ is an active member in the National Council for the Education of the Ceramic Arts, Florida Craftsmen, Inc. and the Florida Art Education Association.

Aramis O'Reilly

Aramis O'Reilly received his MFA in painting from Florida International University and attended both the University of Connecticut and Florida International University for his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. His work has been shown in various national and international exhibitions and is included in numerous private and public collections. Besides his studio work he has been involved in several large scale public art projects. Professor O'Reilly is also a recipient of the Cintas Fellowship Award.

Celeste Pierson

Senior Associate Professor Celeste Pierson is a founding member of the visual arts faculty at NWSA. Currently she teaches high school and college printmaking and bookmaking courses. She holds a BFA degree in printmaking from the University of Alaska, and an MFA degree in printmaking from The Maryland Institute College of Art, in Baltimore. Her own artwork has won awards in national juried exhibits including the Boston Printmakers Fiftieth National Exhibition, the Florida Printmakers Society National Exhibition, and the Southern Graphics Council Juried Traveling Exhibit. Her work is in the collection of the US Department of State, the Boston Public Library, and Bank Boston. Celeste continually strives to bring non-toxic, new approaches into the printmaking curriculum by attending workshops and updating her knowledge. Professor Pierson is past Higher Education Division Director of the Florida Art Education Association, and has been recognized by MDC with an Endowed Teaching Chair. Professor Pierson is an Exam Leader for the College Board Advanced Placement Studio Art Program, and has given numerous workshops both nationally and internationally.

Trisha Brookbank

Trisha Brookbank was born in Miami, Florida where she attended New World School of the Arts High School, and began thinking seriously about art. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University in Sculpture, with honors, in 2001. At which time she began her career as an artist and educator. She worked at Peter’s Valley Craft Education Center, for a summer assisting many well-known artists with their workshops. In the year following, she worked for an Art Foundry in New York State, learning the art of casting and mold making. In 2004 she attended Cranbrook Academy of Art, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she obtained her Master of Fine Arts Degree in the Fiber department. Trisha has been living in Miami for just over a year, and works from a studio at the Art Center South Florida on Lincoln Rd. Trisha is a sculptor, completely dedicated to her craft. Her current work includes all of the experiences and skills she has learned up to this point.

Gregory Davis

Gregory Davis works mainly in photography, using both contemporary digital techniques and traditional film-based technology. Mr. Davis originally majored in piano performance, but graduated from the university of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002, emphasizing photography and a Master of Fine Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006.

Annette Piskel

Over the past 2 decades its national and international client diversities include leaders in professional sports, consumer goods, technology and telecommunications, toys, medical, travel and tourism, finance, non-profit and the entertainment industry. The fresh sensibility and marketing sense is reflected from identity systems, collateral, advertising, packaging, new product, merchandising & new media format. The studio measure of success is the performance of hard work, perseverance, adaptability with creative forward-thinking solutions. The studio style is varied, as are its projects, but its way of thinking is logical. Its creative solutions attain tangible results through taking calculated risks to create something new. With this conceptual framework AMPdzine resolves design problems that is present in the images of individuals, companies, institutions and products from regional, national and international markets.

Louise Romeo

Louise Romeo was born in Enna, Italy, and holds two masters degrees, one in Curriculum and Instruction and the other in Fine Arts. She received her MFA from Pratt Institute in New York. Professor Romeo, former Dean of Visual Arts at New World School of the Arts, holds the distinction as one of the original founding faculty at NWSA. As an administrator/artist/educator, she has been recognized throughout her career for her dedication and commitment to education and the enhancement of the arts. She was the recipient of the Frances Louise Wolfson Endowed Chair for artistic excellence. She was selected by the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts as the NFAA, Distinguished Professor in the Arts, and received the “Arts” Professor Certificate of Excellence from the White House in Washington, D.C. Honored by Pratt Institute. She also received the Arts Educator recognition Award, the FAEA Higher Art Educator recognition Award, the FAEA Higher Art Educator Award and was selected as the “Outstanding Faculty of the Year” by Miami-Dade College. Professor Romeo has exhibited on a national and international level.
