BFA Dance Concert presents 20 Hues of 15

As one of the most anticipated performance of the college, the New World School of theArts College BFA Dance Concert will present 20 Hues of 15, a program that showcases the dancers' various talents, creativity, training and passion. This diverse group of 20dancers, - BFA candidates from the class of 2015, has produced a mosaic of choreography and film with each dance, unique in its own way, yet fitted together as an entire picture.
 
The NWSA Dance BFA Concert takes place on Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21 at 7:30 PM. New World Dance Theater, 25 NE 2nd Street,downtown, Miami. General admission, students and seniors: $5. Tickets are available by calling 305-237-3341 or online at http://nwsa.mdc.edu.
 
Mary Lisa Burns, dean of dance at NWSA mentioned, “Taking inspiration from a wide range of events and phenomena, these choreographers bring the audience on a journey including the sorrow of a lost brother, the dreamlike quality of site-specific film dance, and the bright quirkiness of popular video games. These new voices represent the experiences of these choreographers and dancers as they express their cultural roots and their kinetic imaginations in a lively evening of dance.”

At the Midnight Hour, by Angela Fegers, was inspired by eleutheromania - the intense and irresistible desire for freedom. It is a dance-theater piece that utilizes live-music and surprising scenic elements to create an eerie and intriguing world.
 
紀念, 哥!, a work choreographed by Angie Lu, a native of Taiwan, is the  story of a departed, beloved sibling.  紀念, 哥!is dedicated to her late brother, Hanki Lu and is a duet for Ms. Lu and Adam LeGuerre.
 
Bowser's Demise by Jovahnie Funderburk, offers a fun, comedic andexciting choreography inspired by everyone's favorite video game: Super Mario. Through props, costumes, choreography and casting, Jovahnie successfully pulls the audience into theworld of Super Mario. Funderburk is a New York native who has attended NWSA during High School and College.
 
Rêves à L'envers, dance/film installation by Monica Sharon, features the art of dance and movement through the filmmaker’s lens. Rêves à L'envers will be situated in a dance studio adjacent to the entrance of the theater, and will be open for viewing throughout the performances each evening.
 
New World School of the Arts was created by the Florida Legislature as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts. It is an educational partnership of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida. Through these educational partnerships NWSA’ audition-based dance program, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art, Dance, Music and Theater, offers the high school diploma and four-year BFA college degree. Areas of concentration in Dance include Ballet, Choreography, Modern Dance, World Dance.
