New World School of the Arts' BFA Seniors Showcase One-Man Shows in Program Titled Top 8! April 13 And 14 9 at the Tower Theater

MIAMI--- As part of their spring repertoire, New World School of the Arts presents its second one-person show production this school year titled “TOP 8!” Created by NWSA’s graduating seniors, these productions which are part of the B.F.A. Senior Project, have been written and produced by the young performers. NWSA’s largest college graduating class in the Theater Division will be meeting this extraordinary challenge with verve and an abundance of creativity with their very own one-person shows, which run approximately 30 minutes each. The two programs, A and B, will be held during a Free performance at the Tower Theater in Calle Ocho on Friday April 13 and Saturday, April 14 – (Program A: 5:00 pm on Friday; 8:00 pm on Saturday / Program B: 8:00 pm on Friday; 5:00 pm on Saturday).

Beyond the obvious need for a well-crafted script, solo shows put distinct demands on an actor: sustained energy, intensity, variety in pacing and shifts in focus. Professor David Kwiat, the coordinator for the annual project claims; “one-person shows are the high-wire act for stage performers. It is the crucible by which the few who dare are judged. Quite simply, if you stop talking, the show stops.”

The works that will presented on April 13 and April 14 include Beautiful Sadness, Bananas is my Business, Un-fortune-ate, Never Eat the Masala from Punjabi Palace or F**k with Henry, See What Happens, The Fall of Julie King, The White Sheep, The Confession and Italian Wedding Soup.

The Tower Theatre is located at 1598 SW 8th Street, Miami. Admission is free. For more information about the theatre program at New World School of the Arts please call 305-237-3541 or visit www.mdc.edu/nwsa.
