welcomes Holiday Season with
New World School of the Arts’ High School Choir
under the direction of Dr;. Albert Clark

MIAMI---The spirit of the holidays will fill the air as New World School of the Arts’ High School Choir performs its enchanting Holiday Concert. Audiences of all ages will   NWSA High School choironce again be captivated by popular Christmas selections which this year highlight the theme Peace On A New Day. Scheduled for Thursday, December 4 - 7:30 P.M. at First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way, Coral Gables, this presentation will mark the sixth time the concert is recorded by WLRN for broadcast on PBS stations.
 Program Cover for NWSA Holiday ConcertThe one-hour concert musical, under the direction of Albert Clark, Director of Vocal Music for New World School of the Arts, will feature pieces such as the beautiful “Esurientes” by John Rutter from his Magnificat, Jester Hairston’s rollicking “Mary’s Little Boy Chile,” the always popular “Sleigh Ride” (to celebrate Leroy Anderson’s 100th birthday!), and the such Christmas favorites as “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” “The Holiday Season,” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.”

Dr. Clark is a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, where he studied conducting with Paul Christiansen. Following graduation, he continued his conducting studies with Morris Beachy at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving the degrees of Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts. In the fall of 1996, Dr. Clark assumed the position of Director of Vocal Music of the high school vocal program at New World School of the Arts. Since that time the Concert Choir has been a steady recipient of superior ratings at district and state festivals. In 2002, the choir made its Carnegie Hall debut in a performance of the Mozart Requiem under the baton of the eminent British composer and conductor, John Rutter.

New World School of the Arts was created by the Florida Legislature as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts, is an educational partnership of Miami Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida.
