Young Blood: New World MIXX is curated by NWSA alumni Michelle Gomez [2008] and Patty Suau [2003]. Their commitment to the school is an example of how collaboration with one’s peers can “Pay back what NWSA gives students and all other graduates”, said Gomez, “A chance to pursue an excellent public education. A New World School of the Arts education is a “fast pass” into the art world. We want to contribute to New World’s future of emerging artists. NWSA has been a vital part of the growing Miami art community; spreading their energy, dedication and artistic vision not only in Miami but into other cities, art schools, and galleries around the country.”

The show was inspired by the 2008 exhibit of emerging NWSA artists Young Blood: A New World School of the Arts Student Exhibit at the Open Doors furniture boutique on Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL curated by Michelle Gomez. This year’s Young Blood exhibition event is entitled “MIXX”, it is a remix of the former student exhibit at Open Doors and a blend of alumni of all ages and establishment levels. Young Blood: New World MIXX blurs the boundary between emerging and experienced artists and questions the notion of establishment in the art world by bringing them together.

Young Blood is a future series of art exhibitions that will take place in Miami showing emerging artists who will contribute to the art scene. “It is like a family reunion because New World is a family. It is a group of many talented artists who connect and will always be a part of the New World family” concluded Gomez.

Participating artists include: Andrea Preston, Daniela Londono, Danielle Levine, David Olivera, John Witty, Jovan Villalba, Michelle Gomez, Nabila Santa-Cristo, Nicholas Varsalona, Nicole Serize, Oliver Loaiza, Patty Suau, Ramon Lopez, Reinier Gamboa, Roman Arevalo, Stephanie Santos
