"New World School of the Arts, 25th Anniversary Day"

During a very special New World School of the Arts [NWSA] Rising Stars event, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez presented a proclamation to NWSA Interim Dr. Bernard A. Mair, Jean Monestime, Carlos A. Gimenez, Dr. Jeffrey Hodgson, Alberto Carvalho, Dr. Rolando Montoya, Dr. Lawrence Feldman Provost Jeffrey Hodgson, naming Friday, March 23, 2012 “New World School of the Arts, 25th Anniversary Day.” The recongnition was shared by members of the three educational partners that have made NWSA a reality in our community – University of Florida, Miami Dade College and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, along with the Florida Legislature. It was announced during a magnificent NWSA Silver Anniversary Rising Stars Showcase in Miami’s iconic Gusman Theater where more than 1200 guests gathered to celebrate the school's talented young artists. It was indeed a stellar evening for the 25 year-old arts conservatory, which has become one of South Florida’s most prominent centers for arts education, noted Hodgson - "It is an honor to receive this distinction during this particular Rising Stars Showcase. Our 25th Anniversary celebration recognizes not only the community in which we’ve grown but also the the incredible support that our institutional partners have offered us for more than two decades. It is thanks to their trust and commitment that New World School of the Arts has been able to transform the artistic landscape of our state and local community, and nurture and develop the next generation of artists."
