[10 DAYS OF ART] SALE Exhibition, by New World School of the Arts, offers the South Florida community the exclusive opportunity to purchase original student artwork below market price. The compilation of work, which spans the academic period of over ten years, has been curated to reflect the diversity of mediums and concepts fostered at the school – both at the high school level as well as at the more advanced college level.

An opening reception and Art Sale launch is scheduled for Thursday, November 8; 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at New World Gallery, 25 NE 2nd Street, downtown Miami. Art Sale: November 9, 12-16, 19-21; 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

With more than 100 pieces ranging in styles and mediums, the show offers something for everyone. From dainty hand-held sculptures to small 8”x10” prints, and from medium-sized photograph series to larger-than-life paintings, [10 DAYS OF ART] SALE will remain open for a total of 10 days to offer the community, and friends and family of NWSA, an opportunity to visit the gallery and chose just the right piece of art in time for the holiday season gift-giving.

The show was conceived by NWSA Dean of Visual Arts Maggy Cuesta as a fundraising initiative. “What better way to support the program than to donate your talent and potential revenue to NWSA?” said Cuesta about the generous art donations from her students and alumni. “The funds generated through this sale will be added to a larger fundraising effort that began last year to help fund and operate Artseen, our off-site art studios located just blocks away from our main campus. For the community and the many friends who have supported our school and our students for the last three decades, it’s a wonderful chance to offer them original quality artwork incredibly priced.”

In addition, a portion of the funds will be used to help support NWSA high school and college travel programs, which take place on an annual basis to enrich and expand the students’ knowledge of world art forms.

Artseen, New World School of the Arts’ off campus studio space located in downtown Miami, allows NWSA college student artists to create larger artwork in their own private studios. Boasting 30 separate studios, this multipurpose space gives students the opportunity to collaborate in a relaxed and challenging forward-thinking atmosphere, while offering the privacy they seek to conceptualize and execute their artistic vision. With a focus on education and community outreach, NWSA visual arts students, alumni and faculty often utilize Artseen to host workshops and lectures with renowned visiting artists, offering the perfect setting for creative exploration and insightful discourse.

Through gifted, emerging artists and unique programs, New World School of the Arts has become an educational and creative beacon of the arts. Trained by nationally renowned practicing artists, students are encouraged to develop a personal, artistic and aesthetic vision while mastering their own technical skills in traditional and new media. Areas of concentration for students seeking a four-year BFA college degree include art and technology, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography and sculpture.

New World School of the Arts was created by the Florida Legislature as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts. It is an educational partnership of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida.
