Audition Dates and Locations

The Theater Division will be accepting video audition submissions through August 1, 2020. Applicants scheduled to audition on Saturday, April 4, 2020 should submit video audition by that date. Florida Theatre Conference (Gainsville, FL):           November 13-16, 2019
Florida Thespian Conference (Tampa, FL):             March 18-21, 2020

Criteria For Acceptance

Acting:

  • All applicants will present 2 contrasting monologues from published plays maximum of 2 minutes each.
  • The adjudicators will interview all applicants.

Music Theater: (Video Audition Submissions)

  • All applicants will present 2 contrasting monologues from published plays maximum of 2 minutes each.
  • Applicants will perform 2 contrasting songs from published musicals. One song should be a ballad.
  • Applicants are required to use musical accompaniment without vocals.

Guidelines for Video Dance Audition for Music Theater applicants:

Please use dance clothes (leotard, tights) for your Dance video audition, if you don't have these, please use form-fitting athletic wear. If you do not have proper dance shoes, please dance in socks or barefoot.

Intermediate and Advanced Dancers

  • Please put together a one-minute Musical Theatre dance number, preferably from a well-known Broadway show that includes: grand battements (to show extension), pirouettes either classical (turned out) or jazz (turned in), leaps.

Beginning and Beginner Intermediate Dancers

  • Please show a right side and left side split, and a front straddle split.
  • Show your highest kicks to the front and side
  • Please record a 30-second clip of improv dancing to your favorite music
