Upcoming Theater Events
The theatre program at New World School of the Arts is dedicated to the professional training of talented and committed students interested in pursuing performing careers on stage, screen, and in other media. Our primary aim is to guide the students both in the acting and musical theatre emphases towards the attainment of the highest professional level of training and performance they are capable of at their stage of development. We seek to graduate educated, technically developed students qualified for high-caliber professional performance careers. All acting and musical theatre students participate in a progressive program of intense technical training within their particular performance focus during their four years of study. Students learn their craft through acting technique, improvisation, movement, speech, dance, and music courses that are supported by training in the classical texts, the theoretical principles of drama, and practical application into the contemporary and experimental edges of theatre. As performance is an essential part of the training, it is approached in a sequential, progressive manner to build the student’s vision, strength, and a sense of purpose in performance.
