High School Program

NWSA students performing In the Heights

The high school theatre program offers a structured, pre-professional training program for exceptionally talented and committed students who seek a career in the theatre through intensive practice in acting, musical theatre, play writing, design and technical theatre.

Emphasis is placed on individual growth, discovery of personal strengths, process-oriented work, and the ensemble approach to theatre.

A high level of commitment is expected from students that are trained in a concentrated, two-and-a-half-hour block each day by a staff of active theatre professionals. Courses on acting, musical theatre, voice and speech, movement, directing techniques, playwriting, dance and scene study are offered at the standards of a college conservatory.
