Violin
- Major and minor scales and arpeggios, two or three octaves
- One etude from Kreutzer or two movements of a Bach unaccompanied Partita
- First movement of a concerto from the standard repertoire or standard solo repertoire piece
- The two pieces should be in contrasting style
Viola
- Major and minor scales, two octaves
- One etude from Kayser 36 studies, opus 20 or Kreutzer Studies
- One movement from a concerto or solo repertoire (Telemann Concerto in G major is acceptable)
- The two pieces should be in contrasting style
Cello
- Two movements from a solo suite by Bach.
- One movement from a concerto from the standard repertoire.
- One étude by Popper, Duport, Gruetzmacher, Merk or Franchomme.
Double Bass
- Major scales two octaves
- Two contrasting etudes of your choice
