Portfolio Requirements
The Visual Arts application consists of a digital portfolio, an in-person meet & greet, and a drawing session in our studios at New World School of the Arts (NWSA).
The digital portfolio review will consist of images of artwork that must be submitted digitally. We will accept .jpeg or .pdf files. Please use the following naming convention:
- Lastname_01.jpeg
- Lastname_02.jpeg
- Lastname_03.jpeg and so on.
The website to submit the portfolio opens on January 25, at 11:59 PM and closes on January 28, at 11:59 PM.
The digital portfolio has two different components:
- Portfolio: Submission of 10 examples of artworks produced during the last three years. Portfolios should include your best work and one self-portrait in any media (can include mixed media). This self-portrait will be discussed during your in-person meet & greet on the same day as the drawing session.
Your portfolio should include a variety of techniques and materials, a mix of 2D and 3D work, and can include photography/video or any digital work. If you have images of 3D work in your portfolio there will be a section in which you may also include up to three additional detail images of alternative angles to better document the pieces. - Sketchbook: Submission of 10 examples of artwork produced in your sketchbook during the last three years. These 10 images should reveal your personality and process. These entries will give us an idea of your imagination, creativity, and drawing skills.
When you submit your Magnet Application at https://yourchoicemiami.org/
- When you submit your Magnet Application you will select one of the options for the in-person sessions that includes a drawing session and a meet & greet with a faculty member which will take place at the NWSA Building (25 NW 2nd St., Miami FL, 33132). The in-person session will last about 3 hours.
- When you submit your Magnet Application, you will be asked to select one of four options for an in-person session.
- When you submit your Magnet Application, you will also receive the link to submit the digital portfolio via a Google form. You will need a Gmail account. You can create a free Gmail account to submit a portfolio.

Location and Parking
Both audition and audition workshops will be held in MDC - Wolfson Building 5, located at 25 NW 2nd Street. Parking is available in the MDC lot next to the building and can be accessed from NE 3rd Street.
