Voice

  • Perform one (1) solo piece from the Classical repertory or the "Golden Age" of musical theater. Repertoire that exhibits the influence of Rock or Pop -or incorporates "belt" technique are not appropriate. Pieces must be memorized. An accompanist will be provided for the auditions or, ifyou wish, you may bring your own. In either event you must be sure to bring at least one copy of your sheet music to the audition. Anyone appearing without music will not be auditioned. You may not use a taped accompaniment or sing a cappella. The difficulty of a song is not important -repertoire should be chosen to showcase the beauty and range of the individual voice.
  • Perform vocal exercises, given by the Director of Choral Activities, for the purpose of determining range, color, intonation, and pitch memory.
  • Sing a simple melody at sight.
