Alisa Pitchenik Charles
Alisa Pitchenik Charles joined NWSA in 1998. She received her MFA from School of Visual Arts in New York where she focused on New Media and Installation Art and her BFA from University of Miami in Painting, with a minor in Art History. Alisa developed the Art & Technology course curriculum at NWSA, integrating emerging trends and new forms of media such as 2D, 3D animation, film, video, photography, digital media and performance and installation art. Alisa exhibits and/or curates exhibitions extensively, including projects during Art Basel Miami Beach at SOHO Studios and Artseen in downtown Miami. Her curatorial pursuits extend into alternative exhibitions bridging art and technology. Alisa created Screenings, an annual juried Miami event featuring first run films and videos. She received the Miami Dade College 2007 Congresswoman Carrie Meek Endowed Teaching Chair and was promoted to full professor in 2010. Alisa is a member of ACM Siggraph, an organization dedicated to the advancement of art, science and technology.
