Guest Artists
Master classes and guest artists from around the nation supplement the dance techniques offered at NWSA to include newer and world dance forms in order to prepare New World School of the Arts dance graduates to take the next steps towards professional careers. From Ballet to Hip-Hop, guest choreographers are invited annually to set their work on students, allowing them to sharpen their ability to reproduce movement with speed, accuracy and adaptability; to experience a wider range of techniques; and to establish ties with a variety of dance professionals. Selected students have opportunities to perform with the New World Dance Ensemble, a touring company of current outstanding students and professional alumni, whose repertory includes a broad range of outstanding choreographic works. This provides numerous performing opportunities off campus, exposes students to diverse audiences and performing venues, brings prestigious recognition, and heightens dance awareness in the community. The NWSA Dance Division has recently presented works and workshop showings by a wide range of choreographers and dance artists including Robert Battle, Ohad Naharin, Mark Morris, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Bill T. Jones, Paul Taylor, Eduardo Vilaro, Jennifer Archibald, and many more.
