Dr. Drayton joined the New World School of the Arts in 2019. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Miami-Frost School of Music. While a student at the University of Miami, he was a member of the Henry Mancini Institute and served as a teaching assistant to Robert Weiner. Dr. Drayton has performed with several artists and musical groups in the Miami area. Some of the artists and musical groups include Idina Menzel, Andre Bocelli, South Florida Florida Symphony, Punta Gorda Symphony, New World Symphony, Symphony of the Americas and several Broadway touring companies. Gloria Estefan, Patti Austin Chick Corea, Pharrell Williams, Bobby McFerrin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Terence Blanchard, Eric Owens, Mark O’Connor, Monica Mancini, Michael Feinstein, Take 6, Dave Grusin, Kenny Loggins, and others. Furthermore, Dr. Drayton has recorded and premiered several new works. He has also recorded for Jeremey Fox’s Grammy-nominated arrangement of “All My Tomorrows.” Dr. Drayton also maintains a very active teaching schedule and large private studio. He also serves as the instructor of oboe at Florida International University, Dillard School of the Performing Arts and as a teaching artist with Miami Music Project.
