Rene Miska has been on the faculty of New World School of the Arts since 2014, teaching in both the college and high school divisions. An active performer in south Florida, she plays flute and piccolo with the Miami Symphony and Orchestra Miami and has been a member of the Naples (FL) Philharmonic, Memphis Symphony, and the Florida Grand Opera and Miami City Ballet orchestras. She is a flute clinician for Broward County schools, an adjudicator for state and local competitions and maintains an extensive private studio. Her former students are active in all areas of the music world as performers, teachers, and arts administrators. Since 1985 she has taught at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, an intensive summer arts program in western Michigan. Ms. Miska holds a master’s degree in flute performance from the New England Conservatory of Music.
